Cultural Studies, Music and tendencies

22 Nov

Cultural studies is an academic field grounded in critical theory and literary criticism. It generally concerns the political nature of contemporary culture, as well as its historical foundations, conflicts, and defining traits. Those studies also ccuppied about different cultural music and trend tendencies such as the mods, the rockers… or different groups which standed out historically talking.

An important event which is remarcable by the Cultural Studies view, is the Woodstock Festival. That is because of the importance of time when it was made, and because of the ideas that it suposed. Woodstock ( 3 days of peace and music).  Those 3 days marked a time, marked great ideas which where fighting against the Vietnam wars and against the american imperialism and capitalism.

The young’s who went to this (More than) festival where promoting the love between each other, the respect to the different cultures, promoting the respect between blacks and whites, and innumerable moral values.

Most of them where really young: between 18 and 25 years old, they wore psychedelic clothes and smoke, sniffed and had different drugs. Those young’s   are what we call now “Hippies”, but those Hippies wanted to change the world with the music. In fact with great one: Bob Dylan, Jimmie Hendrix, Santana and other bigs where there to share those ideas and those trends with all of the people who was there, about 400.000.

Is a pity that  there is nothing like that left, there is no great music which make us stand up from our sofa, but in other hand there is technology which can make us rememorize that and feel like in 70s to fight against nowadays capitalism and imperialism.
